I am making the jump from Garmin Connect to Strava! The biggest hurdle I had was exporting all my records from Connect and importing them in to Strava. Yes, you can export them in CSV format, but you cannot natively import them in to Strava in this format. Found a nice little sync tool which does the job for you. I am syncing nearly three years of data and so far it is working great!
