PNC Bank Fees

If you are a previous National City Bank customer that is now a PNC customer, lookout!  This is the second time a mystery fee has shown up on our checking account.  The first time is because we let the account go below the limit.  Our previous checking account with NatCity had no lower limit.  After calling PNC, they claimed to move the NatCity accounts in to a similar PNC account.  Obviously this was not the case since they have a no-fee checking account, but did not place us in this.  We had to call and move the account over.

The second time was this week.  I still have an ATM card from National City which was rebranded as PNC after the move.  Apparently there is a 10$ annual fee for having this card.  The fee showed up as a ten dollar miscellaneous charge.  After calling PNC, they explained I could move this card to a Visa debit card with ATM and no charge.  Ridiculous!  So, that is what I did.  Fortunately they refunded the 10$ without question, but it should not have happened to begin with.

If you are a PNC customer, please check your account often.  I cannot imagine how many people simply let these fees go without notice and how much is ending up in the banks pocket.
