RDGateway Slow to Connect [Follow up]

As a follow up to my previous post regarding slow RDGateway connections in 2008 R2.  After finally making it to third level support at MS, I have an answer:  Apparently the NPS service attempts to crack open the host name in order to apply authentication policy.  If the client is on a domain, but on a different domain than the target host, the RDGateway and NPS need time to determine this, timeout, then allow the connection.  As a test, you can remove your client from its domain, then retry the RDGateway connection.  My guess is you will see marked improvement.

Microsoft has apparently taken numerous calls on this and is investigating a possible bug fix or enhancement to future versions.
